She knew what galbi should taste like
Order Korean food in Hawaiʻi back then and you usually got a sweeter, Americanized version of it. Our founder had come from Korea and knew the real thing. She couldn't accept that the islands were getting a copy.
So in 2003 she opened Choi's Garden. A full Korean kitchen with meat at the center: saeng galbi (생갈비) and yangnyeom galbi (양념갈비), cooked the way they are in Korea. It's for anyone who knows what galbi should taste like, and anyone about to find out.
